I see...

you!

7 months

Leo is doing more and more these days like:

having a conversation by saying "heah heah" back and forth

"airplaning" on his belly

scooting backwards 

(and crying when getting stuck in places)

sink baths

helping with dishes

banging anything like a drum

holding his toys hands-free in his mouth...cracks be up every time!

sitting up on his own from belly position

crawling a few "steps"

pulling himself to standing

tearing paper (and trying to eat it!)

"singing" himself to sleep

giggling at mama 

spitting out his pacifier

rubbing his tongue on his gums where he must be working on getting teeth

eating lots of new foods pureed by Mama like: beets, sweet potato, banana, blueberries, kiwi, strawberries, carrots, apples, and squash (and beefing up to over 20lbs!)

drinking from a sippy cup

learning to turn on the facet

eating dirt/helping in the garden

generally being the greatest gift Eric or I could've imagined!

...and then he tucked away his antenna arm, waved his white flag, 

and gently laid his head down...

is there anything as precious as a sleeping baby?

  Not when that wee one is yours

(and you've fought the good fight to get them to dreamland)

Petals in the park

Are you as excited as we are to see so many trees in bloom? 

We have a beautiful miniature peach tree that is just FULL of bright fushia blossoms.

It's the first year I've seen them, and much like the dandilions in the lawn, 

I can't keep my eyes off of them! 

  Last Wednesday there was snow whirling outside my window at work 

and today the white flecks floating down were pear tree petals...

what a delightful change!

There are only two seasons, winter and baseball ~Bill Veeck

There is nothing MORE American than baseball in the summer, am I right? 

In the last few years, we've been lucky enough to have a wonderful new field in Fort Wayne to indulge in this classic treat. 

The icing on the cake is the wonderful friends whose company we've shared during these games. 

Thank you Dettmers for treating us to Leo's first baseball game; may it be one of many we see together this season!

Food...a Love Story (but not by Jim Gaffigan)

Our babiloo is growing up...

eating rice porridge...

and so begins a love affair...

 

just imagine what it will be like with delicious food...

for now we cannot spoon it in fast enough (see how he's helping?!)

More on Spring!

Spring has sprung!  Daffodils are blooming!

  (so are hyacinths at our home) and we are so very thrilled! 

It was wonderful to rake away the leaves left from winter and find green...it was even more of a thrill when the blooms popped up two weeks later. 

Yeah for spring...and double yeah for the flowers that come with it

(and around here don't stop coming until the snow falls)

Isn't spring, full of renewal and the promise of SUMMER such a delightful time?!

Halfway to One Year!

Leo is now 6 months old! 

He seems to learn something new daily! 

This month he's been rolling and rolling

and rolling some more. 

Sometimes I wonder if he'll need to crawl;

he's gotten so good at going where he wants by rolling. 

Leonardo has definitely mastered sitting up

and his balance is constantly improving. 

He also likes standing in his bouncy seat (or with our help if we hold his fingers!)

We had a round of colds and one ear infection that lead to Leo's first antibiotics. 

While Mama definitely felt like it was a fail, 

the medicine did cure our babiloo, and he actually liked taking it.
He has a bit of a temper and learned a whine that lets us know when he
IS.NOT.PLEASED. (effective, message received Leo;)
Our little fella weighed in at 19lbs 5ozs at his well-child check.

This month finally brought a break in the weather and our first family bike ride 

with Leo riding like a champ in the pull behind chariot. 

We've been working on lots of spring projects and our little man is always along to help

(or observe happily from his umbrella stroller)

This sock monkey (a gift from one of my patients) 

is the perfect size for him to cart around 

and he's learned to carry him in his mouth hands free...cracks us up!

Leo is definitely ticklish and getting a little sense of humor

...giggling at random goofy things Papa does. 

 His drooling problem is improving (but not totally disappeared).

  Leo has become quite skilled at fighting sleep 

and last week Papa was found chanting "No more naps! No more naps!" 

while Leo tapped along with his pacifier...

Mama will really have to keep an eye on these two. 

He wiggles his little feet while he eats and loves to go to sleep with fingers in Mama's mouth.
We are just smitten kittens with our baby boy and all he has come to mean for our little family. 

How very very blessed we've been this past half of a year...how excited for more to come!
